Sunday Reflections ✨ 9.27.26

I've been thinking a lot this week about worry. About the way our minds can take one small "what if" and build an entire world out of it. A whole story, with a beginning, a middle, and usually an ending we've dreaded before it ever arrives.

I do it too. I'm right here with you, catching myself mid-spiral more often than I'd like to admit.

But here's the thing I keep coming back to: when we don't know what's going to happen, why are we so quick to imagine the worst?

Think about it for a moment. All those sleepless nights. All those imagined conversations that turned sour in our heads. All those worst-case scenarios we rehearsed again and again. We can spend so much time preparing ourselves for an outcome that hasn't happened, simply because our minds have convinced us it's the one we should expect.

And yet, in the moment, it feels so real. That's the tricky part.

So this is my gentle reminder to you, and to myself:

Don't let your peace be ruined by something that hasn't happened.

The moment you're in right now—this quiet Sunday evening, this cup of tea, the soft glow of the sun setting—it's real. It's here. It's yours. The imagined trouble two weeks from now? It hasn't happened. You don't know what that day will bring.

And here's something worth sitting with: What if things actually turn out beautifully? What if the best possible outcome is just as possible as the one you've been dreading? Please don't trade something beautiful and true for something that only lives in your head.

I try really hard to be mindful when I feel myself starting to overthink. I take a breath. I look around at what's actually in front of me. I remind myself that I can handle the hard things when and if they come, but I don't have to carry them today. Today has enough goodness and peace in it, and that should be celebrated.

So if you go to sleep tonight worrying about the week ahead, I hope you'll give yourself permission to tuck it away. And while you're at it, let yourself imagine the best possible outcome too, because it is just as possible as anything else.

You are okay in this moment. And this moment is where life actually happens.

Wishing you a peaceful, gentle Sunday. Be kind to your heart this week.
