Sunday Reflections ✨ 6.08.2025

This week, I found myself reflecting on what Door County Candle truly represents. Sure, we make candles—but it’s so much more than that. Our shop is a place where people come to create memories and share stories. It’s a space founded on hope, love, and community.

That meaning came to life for me in the most heartfelt way recently at our candle bar. A couple came to make a special candle on the anniversary of their child’s passing. They wanted something to light in his memory, something that would carry the weight of their love and keep his presence near.

They were so kind, so gentle in their grief, and so full of love. It was humbling to witness. And as I stood there, watching them craft their candle with so much care, I was struck by what a profound honor it is to play even the smallest part in a story like theirs.

It made me think about how a candle isn’t just wax and a wick. It’s a symbol. It’s light in the darkness, warmth in the cold, and hope when the path feels heavy. This couple reminded me of how deeply personal that light can be.

I wish I could capture the feeling they brought into our shop and share it with each of you. It was a reminder that our mission here goes beyond any product we make. It’s about the people who come through our doors, the moments they share, and the connections that happen in this little space of ours.

To that sweet couple—I want you to know how deeply honored I am to have shared in that moment with you. Your story holds a permanent place in my heart, and your child’s light will continue to shine in ways that touch far more people than you could imagine.

This week, I encourage all of us to think about the light we carry and how we can share it with others. Whether it’s in memory, love, or hope, our light matters. And when we offer it to someone else, that’s where the real magic happens.
