Progress comes in all forms, shapes, and sizes.
It’s a simple truth, but one I think we often forget in the rush of our daily lives. In a world that is constantly showing us everyone else’s highlight reels, it is incredibly easy to fall into the trap of comparison. We look at someone else’s mountain top and suddenly, our own climb feels less significant. We compare our Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20 and, in doing so, we unintentionally dim the light on just how far we have come.
I want to remind you today: please, do not do that. Do not let the perceived magnitude of someone else’s journey overshadow the beautiful, hard-fought steps of your own.
Maybe your progress looks "small" to the outside world. Maybe it’s not a grand announcement or a shiny accolade. But it doesn’t matter what it looks like to them—it only matters what it feels like to you.
Progress is personal.
Sometimes, progress looks like simply getting out of bed after the heavy weight of grief has kept you down for so long. I know so many of you have reached out to me and shared that this season is especially difficult because you’re missing someone you love and that my reflections help you. Please know that I see you, and your strength does not go unnoticed—just making it through the day is a victory worth honoring.
Sometimes, progress is finding your voice and standing up for yourself, even when it feels scary. Other times, it’s as gentle as pausing to take a steady breath instead of reacting in a moment of anger. Every step—no matter the size or shape—matters deeply.
So today, I want to ask you to look at your own life with gentle eyes.
Where have you grown? What storms have you weathered that no one else knows about? Be proud of where you are. Be proud of the resilience it took to get here.
Do not let others dim your light just because their path looks different. Your journey is yours alone, and every step forward—no matter how small—is a step worth honoring.
Sending you so much love and light this Sunday.
