As I look back on the week, I can’t help but think about the challenges we all face—the moments that ask us to dig deep and keep going, even when things feel impossible. Life isn’t always smooth sailing, but it’s in those rough patches that our resilience truly shines.
I was reminded of this recently when I saw someone walk away from a situation simply because it became too difficult. It made me reflect on my own journey and the many times I could have chosen to quit.
Here’s the honest truth: if I had given up every time things got hard, Door County Candle wouldn’t be what it is today. I wouldn’t be here, writing this to you.
When we decided to create our Ukraine Candle, the path wasn't simple. There were countless logistical challenges and emotional hurdles. But we knew the purpose was bigger than the struggle, so we pushed forward. Becoming the owner of this incredible company was another mountain to climb, filled with its own set of fears and obstacles. Each step of the way has been a lesson in perseverance.
Life is full of roadblocks. It’s not about avoiding them—it’s about how we navigate them. It’s about finding the strength to keep going when every part of you feels like stopping. Quitting is not the answer when life gets tough.
These challenges are what shape us. They build our character and strengthen our resolve. As the old saying goes, "a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor." Our struggles are what teach us how to truly navigate the waters of life.
