Last week, I shared my thoughts on passion—the spark that lights our inner fire. But as I reflect further, I realize that passion alone isn't enough to sustain the journey. It's commitment, the steadfast dedication to an idea, a dream, or a cause, that transforms passion into reality.
Commitment is what carries us through when the initial excitement fades and the road becomes challenging. It's the quiet, unwavering force that drives us to wake up every day and keep moving forward, even when the path is steep and the destination seems distant. Without commitment, passion can flicker out like a candle in the wind. When I first took over Door County Candle, I was fueled by a fervor to create something beautiful and meaningful. It started with our Ukraine candle, and lead to our mission of Candles Creating Change. Yet, it wasn't just my passion for candles that propelled me; it was my commitment to an idea—that through our products, we could bring warmth, comfort, and light into people's lives.
