After the incredible success of our Honu Hero candle supporting Sea Turtle conservation, we are thrilled to collaborate with MOC Marine Institute again for our new Koʻa Kiaʻi Support a Cause benefitting Coral Reef Conservation and Restoration on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute is a nonprofit organization based in Maui, HI, with a mission to inspire lifelong environmental stewardship and ensure the survival of coral reefs and sea turtles in Hawaiʻi through science-based conservation efforts, education, and outreach.

The name for this candle was inspired by MOCMI as Koʻa Kiaʻi directly translates to “Coral Protector” in Kānaka Maoli, the language of the Hawaiian people. The fragrance chosen for this candle is our sandalwood scent in honor of the endemic sandalwood tree on Maui named ‘Iliahi lāʻau ʻala. This is meant to showcase the interconnectedness between the montane forests and coral reefs of Maui; without the forests, coral reefs are left vulnerable to various land based threats. 100% of all profits from Koʻa Kiaʻi will be donated to MOC Marine Institute and their efforts to protect and conserve the beautiful coral reefs for generations to come.
