A few days ago, I picked up the phone to help a customer place an order. Simple enough, right? But something wonderful happened. We got to talking, and before I knew it, she was telling me that she and her husband are getting close to celebrating 50 years of marriage. Fifty years!
She shared little stories with me, told me how they plan to celebrate, and I could hear the love in her voice with every word. Then, she offered up her secret to a happy 50 years.
Her answer was so simple, and so beautiful.
"Humor and laughter," she said. "Laugh with your partner."
That's it. That's the whole thing. Not grand gestures, not perfect days, not never disagreeing. Just laughter. The kind you share together, the kind that turns ordinary moments into memories.
I sat with that thought long after we hung up. I looked at my own love, my own marriage, and I realized how much of our life together is stitched with laughter. The silly inside jokes. The giggles over nothing at all. The moments where everything else fades and we're just two people finding joy in each other. That's something that will stay with me forever.
So here's what I'm carrying into this week, and what I hope you'll carry too.
Don't forget to smile.
Life gets heavy sometimes. We rush, we worry, we forget to pause. But joy is often waiting in the smallest places — a shared glance, a good laugh, a moment of lightness with someone you love. Look for it. Reach for it. Let yourself laugh a little more freely this week.
Because the truth is, laughter isn't just something that makes the good times better. It's what carries us through everything, side by side, year after beautiful year.
Fifty years of love, built on laughter. What a reminder.
So go on, my friends. Find your reasons to smile today. Share them with the people who matter most.
