Mother's Day always has a way of filling my heart with gratitude and reflection. It’s a day to pause and celebrate the women who have poured their love, strength, and wisdom into our lives. For me, it’s such a special opportunity to reflect on the incredible women in my world.
If you’ve visited our shop, you’ve likely met my amazing mom. She’s everywhere, and I mean everywhere! Helping wrap candles in the retail store with warmth and kindness, helping at the candle bar as people create their own memories, and working behind the scenes to make sure orders are pulled and sent off with care. There’s no task too big or too small for her, and she gives her whole self to everything she does. What amazes me most, though, is her unwavering support. She’s always encouraging us to chase our dreams, to take risks, and to do it all with love.
And then there’s my Baba Luba, my sweet grandmother, who continues to inspire me every single day. Her presence in the shop has likely touched many of you too; it’s impossible not to feel her warmth and joy. Baba Luba has been a beacon of love in my life, and her zest for celebrating the beautiful, simple things has shaped so much of what we do here. Her name even inspired something very close to our hearts, our new non-alcoholic mocktail brand, Luba Libations. The name “Luba” is rooted in the Ukrainian word for “love,” which feels so perfect because that’s exactly what she embodies.
Today, I hope we can all take a moment to recognize the profound impact of mothers and mother figures. From gentle hands to wise words to the strength they model for us, their love shapes the people we become. Whether you’re a mom, a grandmother, an aunt, a caregiver, or a friend who fills that motherly role, please know that we celebrate you today.
And to those of you who carry the memory of the women you’ve loved and lost, we hold space for you too. The love they gave lives on in everything we do, in the stories we tell, and in the kindness we share with others.
