This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to be a panelist at Heart of the Valley's "Women You Should Know" event. The experience was nothing short of inspiring, as I found myself surrounded by a remarkable group of trailblazing women, all gathered to empower and uplift one another. The energy in the room was palpable, a testament to the strength and impact women can have when they come together to innovate and inspire change.
A highlight of the event was engaging in conversations about the philanthropic work we are doing at Door County Candle. Our initiatives, such as the Ukraine Candle and our Candles Creating Change mission, hold a special place in my heart. Being able to share these missions with a room full of passionate, like-minded individuals was both invigorating and deeply reaffirming. It reminded me of the power of collective action and the importance of working towards a greater good.
Another topic I enjoyed exploring was the role of mentors in our lives. I shared my personal experiences, which included both inspiring figures who have supported me and a more challenging encounter with someone I hoped would be a mentor but turned out otherwise. The takeaway? Be careful who you allow into your corner and ensure that the people cheering you on are truly there for YOU.
As a woman in manufacturing, I relished the opportunity to share stories about moments when I turned skepticism into motivation. Discussing these experiences with other women who have faced their own challenges was a powerful reminder of our collective resilience and determination. It's moments like these that reinforce the strength we possess and the importance of proving doubters wrong.
Hearing everyone's stories left me profoundly inspired and grateful for the chance to connect with such a dynamic group of women. The event was a vivid reminder of the impact we can have when we dare to lead and support each other.
As we move forward this week, I encourage you to think about who is at your table. Reflect on the mentors in your life and consider the ways in which you can be a source of strength and encouragement for others. Let us continue to build a community that supports and uplifts, creating a legacy of empowerment for future generations.
