This week has truly showcased the incredible strength of collective effort and compassion. In our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact, we launched a Support a Cause candle to aid relief efforts for Hurricane Helene. In just a few days, our initiative has already raised an astonishing $3,000 for the American Red Cross, directly contributing to vital disaster relief efforts.
We are immensely proud of our team, especially one remarkable employee who has stepped up in an extraordinary way. Currently volunteering with the Red Cross in North Carolina, she is on the front lines, tirelessly engaging in search and rescue operations while providing shelter support and emotional care to those affected. Her heartfelt words resonate deeply: "The need for comfort is essential in any way we can provide it." As a nurse supervisor, she ensures that medication, walkers, glasses, and other essential supplies are readily available. But beyond that, she assesses injuries and offers emotional support, truly embodying the spirit of compassion and resilience that defines our company.
This weekend, we had the privilege of connecting with some customers who shared their deeply moving experiences. One customer recounted the heartbreaking loss of their grandma's house to the hurricane, yet they expressed profound gratitude that she escaped with her life. Another customer anxiously awaits news from her sister, impacted by the storm, holding onto hope amidst uncertainty. We also received an email from a customer who shared that our candles were their only source of light for five long days. These stories remind us of the urgent need for support and underscore the profound impact our efforts can have in times of crisis.
What sets our company apart is our unwavering commitment to making a difference when it matters most. It is during disasters like these that our collective spirit shines brightest, illuminating the path forward.
