Today marks a milestone that's incredibly close to my heart—it's the 3-year anniversary of becoming the owner of Door County Candle. I can't even begin to put into words what these three years have meant to me. Three years ago, my life changed forever, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Reflecting on this journey, I've experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows. From building an email list from scratch to figuring out how to fulfill over 46,000 orders during our Ukraine Candle fundraiser, every challenge has been a lesson in resilience and growth. We transformed our entire business model to be philanthropic and created a virtual fundraising program, donating to various causes and ensuring our candles mean more than just candles.
Being featured on ABC World News with David Muir, PBS News Hour and NBC's "The Wall" was surreal, but what truly warms my heart is the community we've built. Meeting people who feel like family, working alongside a staff that steps up to every challenge, and having my family and friend's unwavering support have made this journey so worthwhile.
Building our new Candle Bar has added another layer of excitement and fulfillment to our brand. It's a space where we can connect with all of you, share our passion, and create memories together.
I often think back to that day I was driving to work in Milwaukee, stuck in traffic, and feeling like there was something more out there for me. Little did I know, my destiny was waiting just around the corner. The last three years have shown me that we can pursue our dreams, even if we don't fully understand them yet. We can change the world in ways we never imagined.
I can't say enough about my husband Nic and what an incredible partner and supporter he has been through it all. His encouragement, especially as I navigate being a woman in a male-dominated field, has been invaluable. None of this would be possible without him.
Thank you to everyone who has made these three years unforgettable - customers, staff, volunteers, family and friends. Your support, encouragement, and love have been the driving force behind everything we do. It hasn't been easy, but it's been so worth it.
Cheers to three wonderful years—it feels like just yesterday this all began. I am deeply grateful to have you all on this adventure and journey with me. Here’s to many more! I truly am so grateful for each and every single one of you. If you're reading this, thank you. You mean more to me than you know.
With all my love and gratitude,
💛Christiana
